Who we are and how we work

About: Our Method for Explaining Natural Wonders

Quveliotrovs is an independent publication for people who have stood in front of a strange rock and wondered how it got there. We write for curious non-specialists, and we try never to trade accuracy for wonder.

Process Before Superlatives

Lists of "the world's most amazing rocks" are everywhere. They rarely explain anything. We begin instead with the mechanism — dissolution, contraction, collision, frost — and then show where it has produced something remarkable. We also avoid implying that similar-looking places formed the same way; often they did not.

Unfamiliar terms are introduced once, in plain language, and gathered in short definition panels you can open when you need them.

Evidence, Labelled Honestly

Established

Supported by measurement, experiment and repeated observation, and broadly accepted by specialists.

Hypothesis

A reasoned explanation still being tested, or one of several competing interpretations.

Model

Our 3D cutaways simplify reality to show structure. They are labelled and never to scale.

We rely on public geological surveys, park science programmes and peer-reviewed literature, and we correct errors promptly when readers point them out.

The Editorial Desk

Editorial writing

Drafts each chapter, starting from the process and testing every sentence on a non-specialist reader.

Science review

Checks claims against sources and decides what is labelled established or hypothesis.

Models and renders

Builds the soft-lit specimen renders and simplified cutaways used across the site.
